In the 1980s she began her acting career and gained notoriety for her character, Siobhan Ryan on the daytime soap opera Ryan's Hope between 1982 and the year 1986. The most well-known of her roles is her performance as Catherine Willows in the CBS police procedural drama. Crime Scene Investigation (2000-13) and then the follow-up TV movie Immortality (2015). She graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's in art history from Columbia University. The View was her home since The View in 2017 and hosted the show from 2017 until 2021. McCain earned 4 Daytime Emmy nominations. She also has other endeavors. McCain was a columnist at the Daily Mail newspaper after her three years on The View.
